The Celts did not share the idea of four elements, but merely distinguished three kingdoms: the land, the sea, and the sky. Trees were used as a link between land and sky and by the transport of water (lake) in both directions as intermediaries. Little is known about the original meanings of Triskel spirals. Frequently - as with most spiral forms - it is assumed that they stand for the way of life or symbolically for the sun. In today's interpretation, the "magic number" plays a major role, especially in Celtic mythology. Thus different contexts and cycles can be assumed
The number three means the triple goddess (girl, mother, old woman), the cycle of birth, life and death, past, present and future, the Celtic trinity water, land and sky.
